Kevin was born and raised in the Central Valley along with his two sisters, moving from Hickman to Modesto to Denair. He is a first generation American citizen from his father's side, and second generation from his mother's side after immigrating from Angola and the Azores. Kevin's family has deep roots in the Portuguese culture and religious celebrations including attending festas all over the Valley. Kevin is also fluent in Portuguese. For vacation, they would often ride quads on the dunes at Pismo Beach.
When Kevin was 8 years old, his family started a dairy in Modesto, eventually relocating to Ballico. When not in school, Kevin would spend nearly all his time helping on the dairy. While attending Hilmar High School his sister convinced him to take a drafting class, sparking his interest in engineering. After splitting time at a local community college his junior and senior years of high school, Kevin attended California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo as a Civil Engineering major. While at school Kevin spent 3 years working as head expeditor in a local restaurant and interned at a construction company during the summer of his senior year.
Immediately after graduating with his BS in Civil Engineering in 2014, Kevin was hired by Andrew at his previous firm, also working alongside Michael and Nuno. It was here that Kevin received his initial exposure to the field of engineering, beginning with hands-on experience in equipment swap-out and modernization projects. Though not a large firm, Kevin was able to gain knowledge from several different engineers with varying levels of experience, while honing his own unique skills and approach to solving various types of engineering challenges.
In July of 2017, Kevin would rejoin Andrew and Michael at Axiom Structural Design where he has continued to advance his understanding and expand his repertoire in the field of engineering.
