Nuno was raised in Hilmar along with his younger brother. He is a first generation American citizen after his parents immigrated from Terceira, Azores. Nuno's family maintains strong ties in Portuguese culture. His family takes regular trips back to Terceira, and even maintains a residence on the island. Nuno calls the island his favorite place to be.
While both of Nuno's parents only received a fourth grade education (his dad was a farm mechanic and his mom ran a daycare) both were determined to see him receive a college education after graduating from Hilmar High School. During his time in high school he also washed dishes and catered. It was because his parents remodeled their house on Terceira that Nuno became interested in architecture, which evolved into obtaining his degree in Civil Engineering from California State University of Sacramento. Nuno currently lives in Sacramento and commutes both physically and electronically to Modesto.
Upon graduating with a BS in Civil Engineering in 2012, Nuno began working at a large precast concrete construction firm as a project engineer. While there he gained valuable experience and insights into the construction side of the engineering field. He was forced to learn to adapt to steadily changing demands of each project as it continued through the construction process.
In 2014 Nuno acted on his desire to gain exposure to different types of construction material and design when he was hired by Andrew at their previous firm. Nuno put his versatile abilities to use and was soon performing structural designs for a wide range of construction types, clients and facilities. He also began fostering and cementing several client relationships as he moved into the role of a project and eventually office manager.
In August of 2017, Nuno decided to rejoin Andrew and Michael at Axiom Structural Design where he continues to maintain client relationships and extend his abilities into every aspect of structural design.
